INSPECTION
My 13-point Inspection of a vehicle includes, at a minimum, the following:
- visual inspection of the body including signs of rust, prior collision damage, scratches, and dents
- engine inspection including signs of oil and fluid leaks, unusual noises, restricted operation, deteriorated
parts, and overall functionality
- cooling and exhaust system inspection
- basic electrical system inspection
- transmission inspection
- brake, tire, and alignment inspection
- interior inspection including the condition of the upholstery, windshield and windows, and the functionality of
dials, gauges, and switches
INSTRUCTION
Individual instruction on basic vehicle maintenance includes, at a minimum, the following:
- identification and familiarization of major engine components
- identification and familiarization of major cooling, braking, and transmission components
- identification of all fluid ports including oil, steering, cooling, brake, transmission, and windshield washer fluids
- identification of all filters including oil and air filters
- location and operation of the fuse box
- how to do a basic oil change
- how to change a tire and check air pressure
- how to inspect all of the hoses and belts
- how to identify and prevent future problems
ADVICE AND RECOMMENDATIONS
- be confident that the vehicle you want to buy is of good quality and has no hidden defects
- know what to ask for and expect before you bring your vehicle to an unknown auto shop or mechanic for service
or repairs
- maintain your vehicle for optimum efficiency and life which will save you time and money
